For the third year running, France’s Centre national du cinéma et de l’image (CNC) is leading the world in celebrating short film on the shortest day of the year. Taking a dreary day filled with more darkness than light and turning it into an opportunity to promote shorts is a brilliant idea, and it’s now spread to more than 20 countries.
Leading the charge here in Canada is Telefilm, along with SODEC and the NFB, who are sponsoring screenings at more than 60 venues across the country. Check out their microsite for details about screenings near you.
If you’re outside Canada, check the CNC’s excellent site for more details.
